barry.biles@btopenworld.com | 10-10-2007 - 13:32 - from host86-134-137-71.range86-134.btcentralplus.com I have lived in Bermondsey all my life and have seen many changes. Some good and some very bad.I am tired of Southwark Concil and their grandoise schemes with similar titles.
I have used the shoping facilities at Surrey Docks (Sorry Surrey Quays) for some twenty years. Althogh it has a run down look it does at least have the shops that i need to exist, and a place to park my car . I note from the proposed plans that the car parking will be severly reduced and no doubt will be charged for!
The Council appears to be catering for every extreme of organisation except the people who just want to go shopping and get away afterwards. i.e the local populace. I am sure in ten years we will have an area that will be politically correct with buildings that we do not want. The actual shops that we need may well be there, but unaccessable.
I wish Southwark Council would look at places like Milton Keynes and put the requirements of the shopers (the local populace) first !
I am not impressed! |

decdel3@hotmail.com | 27-06-2007 - 07:19 - from 5ac30067.bb.sky.com I appreciate that these things take time, but what actually has been developed, when is it all going to start. Everyone is talking about it, why cant people just get on with it. There seems to be a lot of talking but there as usual is people with nothing better to do tham winge and complain without seeing the long term benefits. The place is crying out for new bars, restaurants etc. why is it that these so called do gooders stop improvments. They need to get a life and a job |

http://www.canadwater.org | 29-05-2007 - 15:56 - from pharm101.pharm.ucl.ac.uk In reply to the message below, the Campaign has tried to persuade Transport for London to introduce a loop bus which would go round Salter road, linking Rohterhithe tube, Canada Water and Surrey Quays but they say there is no demand. As for bars and restaurants by the water we have been campaigning for these for several years. Conrad Phoenix's Waterside View development on the Decathlon site is designed to have a few cafes, bars and restaurants fronting the dock. |

jrs1271@yahoo.co.uk | 13-04-2007 - 18:39 - from 217.205.155.130 I've lived in Rotherhithe since 2001 and have seen a marked increase in young professionals, yet there is a distinct lack of bars / cafes, restaurants and decent shops - as well as a lack of buses. The 381 is alway PACKED at rush hour. Why is this still the only bus that goes around Salter Rd? Why hasn't the route of the 47 been extended to include Salter Rd? Why are there no nice cafes or bars by the water? Does anyone really care about improving the area?! |

charlie_soapme@hotmail.com | 20-03-2007 - 14:02 - from gw-lon-cluster.cmcnet.net I follow the progress of this campaign now and then, as I've been a resident here since 1995. My concern is less with the campaign for local widelife and environmental factors, I do appreicate it but it no city makes an ideal place for wildlife. I usually visit these pages as I want to keep tabs on what is happening in the area regarding the new buildings and developments. I probably won't be able to afford living there though! |

sjcfry@yahoo.com | 11-01-2007 - 18:21 - from eph.tomkins.co.uk This campaign is a disgrace! People with nothing better to do than stop the progress of our city. There is plenty of countryside for the birds.. Real people need place to live and work. |

frampton_consulting@hotmail.com | 27-02-2006 - 12:55 - from 195.157.212.145 I have always had concerns for the local wildlife in the area and particularly the impact that the new developments will have on the nesting areas at Canada water for the local swans, coots and ducks to name a few. Keep up the good work and I hope you/we can convince the council to continue to fund the forum. |
