| This is the home of the Canada Water Campaign and Canada Water Consultative Forum.
Finally, after 7 years of discussions and consultations, work is now progressing on the first phase of the Canada Water Masterplan. Site B1 (Toronto House) is completed and residents have moved in. Site B2 (Montreal House) is nearing completion and work is progressing well on the new £14M library which is due to open in March 2011. The Plaza area between the library and site B2 is due to be completed by the end of 2010. The newsletters relating to the current projects are on the latest news page. All details on these sites can be found here. The picture above shows the proposed library and Site B2. The latest designs for Site A include the introduction of a 26 storey tower, the removal of the town houses with gardens and the introduction of a series of blocks of flats and maisonettes.
Planning applications have also been submitted for Site C (Waterside View - picture below) and Downtown.
See Latest News for reports and updates and pictures for the new Canada Water Library, Mulberry Business Park and Site C - Waterside View. Here is the only place online where you will find the Planning Applications for Sites A&B, Design Code and the Arup Transport Assessment and EDCO Public Realm documents. The community aspiration is for a "low, clean and green" waterside development, preserving and enhancing the attractions of Canada Water itself but also becoming a community focus. The community - through the Canada Water Campaign and the Forum - has been fighting hard to preserve the dock and to prevent overdevelopment whilst achieving the facilities that are badly needed. A British Land/Canada Quays consortium was chosen as the preferred developer-led team to masterplan development at Canada Water following extensive public consultation. This followed Southwark Council's adoption of the Master Developer Brief and the Planning & Design Principles & Technical Appendices which the Canada Water Consultative Forum worked so hard on. Their first applications gave been submitted for sites A &B (see above). |
